Kanye West Debuts Women’s Collection

Kanye West was quite the conversation piece this weekend, as he presented his first women’s collection in Paris.  The musical genius definitely garnered the attention of A-listers like: Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Terry Richardson, Lindsay Lohan, the Olsen twins, Alexander Wang and Olivier Theyskens were in attendance.  Determined to get it right the first time, West worked for Fendi and Louis Vuitton, consulted with Central Saint Martins professor Louise Wilson, got Giuseppe Zanotti to design and produce all the shoes in the show, and tapped designer Louise Goldin to help him with his latest foray. And on the day itself, he called upon Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss, and Jourdan Dunn to present his pieces as only top models can do.

“The biggest conversation I hope I can end tonight is the whole ‘celebrity designer’ thing,” he shares after the fashion show. “That’s the biggest hurdle when you want to get amazing people to work for you.”

Well, I think he was somewhat successful with that.  I give the collection an A for effort. However, I find the collection to be just, okay.  He added a touch of street with hoodies made from crocodile skin and dresses with geometric cutouts but nothing too exciting.  West, did well for his first attempt and for all the work he put into this collection I doubt it’s his last, so stay tuned!
