Maison Martin Margiela for H&M

I love the white coat above, I might just have to camp out until November 15 for it.  Yes, that’s right November 15th is when the collection hits stores so clear your calendars guys and gals. The collection is made up of 23 iconic pieces since Maison Martin Margiela house was founded.  According to Fashionista a  press release, H&M sought to reproduce the most “representative” pieces of the Margiela archive–at H&M price points, of course.

The hallmarks of Margiela’s influential aesthetic are all there. The release states that the collection (104 pieces total including womens, mens, accessories and footwear) focuses on shape and volume (“masculine shapes adjusted to frame the female body”); oversized garments; an examination of the process of tailoring (“traditional finishings and tailoring procedures are visible”); and ambiguity (“conveyed through the use of trompe l’oeil.
